If you are interested in going to the Netherlands as a NEDSA Au Pair, find the agent closest to you and contact her/him. She/He will then arrange a selection interview with you.

SELECTION

The agent you apply to first will conduct the first interview. Nothing to be afraid of, but the agent must be able to determine how you think and feel and how you will therefore adapt and fit into new circumstances.

Annelies also conducts the first interviews of au pairs who apply to her and the second interview of au pairs from other agents. It is necessary that at least two agents conduct the interviews in order to make an objective assessment. If you are selected, Annelies will send you the necessary documentation with which you are registered on the portal system. Together with Joyce in the Netherlands, we will look for a suitable family for you and send the registration documents to the specific family we have in mind for you. The registration documents consist of: information form, letter from you to a family, the result of the interview and a photo.

DOCUMENTATION

After the selection you can begin with the application of documents. This can take a few months. The most important documents are the birth certificate (unabridge), the passport and the marital status to prove that you are not married. The birth certificate and the marital status both have to have apostilles. These are only available from the Department of Foreign Affairs in Pretoria. There is a quicker method to prove that you are not married that you can follow. Look in die document “Costs” that Annelies sent you right at the start of the process.

If you feel positive about them, the agent will arrange for a skype meeting between you and the family. This meeting will determine if you will be placed with the family. 

All the necessary documentation is sent to Joyce. She applies for your visa on behalf of you and the family. The approval usually take up to 2 weeks. 

dutch EMBASSY

Once the approval from the Netherlands come through, you must report in person with the necessary documents to the Dutch Embassy. Your agent will make an appointment for you at the Embassy. Furthermore, your agent will send you the necessary documents that you need to take with you. Now it is time to get the visa stamp in your passport. Once you have submitted it, you can collect it after a few days. There is no such thing as a one-day visa. You will be given a receipt to show when you can collect it, and anyone can also collect it on your behalf. It doesn’t have to be collected exactly after a few days. Au pairs who go to the Consulate in Cape Town will wait a little longer for their visa. 

Now everything is ready for you to leave for the Netherlands.
